Op Art

Students created a black and white Op Art piece.  They were to create 5 circles with lines intersecting through the circles.  Then they used sharpie to color every other section black.  This left a black and white checkerboard effect.

Black and White Line Patterns to Color

Students created three 3-D geometric shapes.  2 out of the 3 shapes are to be different and at different heights.  On those shapes, they drew black line patterns.  They then glued those down onto watercolor paper.  The line paper continued off of the paper.  They then only watercolored the paper.  The sections that they painted were created by the line patterns.  The sections had to be different colors.  So for example, blue and blue cannot be next to each other.  They would have to choose another color.  However, the same color can be used more than once.

Characters Made Out of Text

Students selected a cartoon character that they would like to replicate.  They wrote a list of 20 words that would describe the character.  Using the words, they replicated the character.  They only colored the words the appropriate color that corresponds to the character.

Our Trees of Life: in the Style of Gustav Klimt

Students created their own version of "Tree of Life"  using metallic paints such as gold, silver, and copper.  Once dry, they drew around the edges with sharpie to allow the tree to stand out on the brown paper.  They then added geometric shapes to the inside of the tree using black and white paint.

Candy Wrapper Pop Art

Students created a candy wrapper drawing in the style of Pop Art.
Students made a 1" x 1" viewfinder.  They taped it on their wrapper.  They divided their drawing paper into six 6"x 6" squares.  Each square was to be one wrapper.  Using the viewfinder, students drew the wrapper.  As you can see, the wrappers became cropped.  This leaves an interesting composition.

Art Show

The Art Show at Manchester Farms
Here was one of the tables that had our artwork.
On a side note:  My ceramic leaf sold for $65!
Lacy sold her ceramic leaf bowl at $55!  Her ceramic plaque in the silent auction sold as well.
Three middle school students' artwork sold for $35 each!

Floating Spheres

5th Grade Class made Floating Spheres.
They made a background first of an alternating black and white pattern that leads your eye to the midpoint.
We then made 3 different sized spheres, shaded them, and added a touch of color to each.
We finally cut them and glued them onto the background.
Each has similarities, but the differences are eye catching!
